Naltrexone implants

We prioritize your health and well-being. In our pursuit of innovative and effective treatments, we proudly present the use of Naltrexone implants in conjunction with exercise for a holistic approach to wellness. This unique combination can help you take charge of your health and achieve lasting results. Discover how exercise with Naltrexone implants can be a game-changer in your journey to a healthier, happier life.

Naltrexone is a medication primarily used to treat opioid and alcohol addiction. It functions by blocking the receptors in the brain responsible for the pleasurable effects of these substances. This helps reduce cravings and decrease the likelihood of relapse, promoting sobriety.

Naltrexone implants are small pellets that are surgically inserted under the skin, gradually releasing the medication over several months. This form of treatment ensures consistent drug delivery, eliminating the need for daily pills and minimizing the risk of non-adherence. Moreover, Naltrexone implants can offer an extended period of support and focus on recovery.

The Advantages of Naltrexone Implants with Exercise

  • Reduced Cravings: Naltrexone implants can help suppress cravings for opioids and alcohol, making it easier to maintain sobriety.
  • Increased Motivation: Regular exercise can boost motivation levels, supporting individuals on their journey to recovery.
  • Positive Reinforcement: The sense of accomplishment from exercising regularly can serve as positive reinforcement during the recovery process.
  • Healthier Coping Mechanisms: Engaging in physical activity can replace harmful coping mechanisms with healthier alternatives.
  • Support for Emotional Well-being: Both Naltrexone implants and exercise can contribute to improved emotional well-being, reducing the risk of relapse.

How Does the Naltrexone Implant Work?

Naltrexone, an opioid antagonist, lacks psychoactive effects and functions by binding to and regulating the neurotransmitter receptors targeted by opioid drugs in the brain. By doing so, it halts the euphoric feelings associated with opioid use. The implant should only be inserted after eliminating all traces of opiates from the system, approximately seven to 10 days after the last use. If opiates are present during the implantation, acute opioid withdrawal symptoms will result.

While naltrexone implants can deter the purchase and abuse of opioids, they do not eliminate cravings. Awareness of the implant’s blocking effect on opioids may create a placebo effect, but this could lead to a dangerous situation. When opioid use is attempted despite the implant, the usual effects will not occur, potentially leading to increased opioid use and a higher risk of overdose.

How Is a Naltrexone Implant Inserted?

Naltrexone implants are small pellets easily inserted under the skin using local anesthesia, rendering the procedure painless. Once in place, the implants gradually release the medication, blocking the effects of opiates for two to six months. Naltrexone injections are an alternative, providing a slow-release depot injection lasting around one month. However, it’s essential to remember that naltrexone’s efficacy depends on the individual’s willingness to remain substance-free. Without additional therapy and addiction treatment, one might choose to remove the implant or not have another injection, rendering the treatment ineffective.
